SCOPE GALLERY: In Between
1.10.2026-31.10.2026 | Opening 1.10.2026 klo 16:00-18:00
Maria 01 | Lapinlahdenkatu 16, 00180 Helsinki
In Between is the second chapter of States of Change. The exhibition explores the state of being somewhere
between what has been and what is yet to come. A space of transition, incompleteness or uncertainty, where
something may no longer be what it was, but has not yet become what comes next.
In Between can take many forms, physical or emotional, personal or collective, temporary or ongoing. It may
exist between places, identities, relationships, ideas, states of mind, stages of life, or even between defined forms and meanings.
LÄHTÖ / Aleksis Lehtonen
The picture has been taken early in the morning, when the first train of the day is leaving the station. The purpose was to capture a quiet moment, where a person is in between two places on their way somewhere. The artwork captures the theme through a concrete journey, where a person is physically in between two places, but at the same time in a moment, where the future is still wide open. 40×50, Fine art print
AESTAS FINITA EST / Stiina Kokko
The title Aestas finita est means Summer has ended. This reflects the moment when one is saying goodbye to summer, but not yet welcoming autumn. The piece reflects what remains when one phase of life has concluded but the next has not yet begun. The artist emphasizes that the grey background is important as it is neither dark nor light, functioning as a visual liminal space. 36 x 29 cm, oilpastel on paper, 2026 Price: 300€
HETKEN TÄSSÄ /Saara Pernu
The artwork examines the fleeting and liminal beauty of shadows formed in nature. The shadow exists between light and darkness, the seen and unseen, it is present only in specific conditions, and in nature it transforms every moment. In shadow light reveals a new, delicate dimension where the shadows are something undefined and transient, forming from two spaces colliding. “Hetken tässä” aims to preserve this kind of temporary moment in a permanent form. 50 x 60 cm, oil on canvas, 2026 Price: 620€
TIGER / Jesse Eskelinen
“Tiger” is a painting about inner transformation and the moment when something within us no longer fits the form it has previously inhabited. The work explores vulnerability, restraint and strength, as well as the tension between holding something in and allowing it to emerge. For the artist, the in-between is not necessarily a clear transition from one state to another, but an uncertain and unfinished space where change is already taking place. 120 × 100 cm, acrylic and oil pastels on canvas, 2026 Price: €800
APPARITION / Antti Liimatainen
The artwork took shape slowly when the artist had to find a new direction in their life. It reminded them of the moment when something has not yet come but you are close to reaching a comforting state. The splashing colours bring a positive aura to the center where a mythical creature or entity that protects and lifts your soul to higher levels is forming. 55 x 46 cm, acrylics, 2026 Price: 670€
CONTAINED – UNCONTAINED / Henna Videnoja
“CONTAINED – UNCONTAINED” is a pair of works that converse and flow with each other. They represent two states of being, emotions, or feelings that can constantly shift between one another. Neither state is necessarily positive or negative, both can hold elements of comfort, discomfort, freedom, or restriction. Together, the two works explore the space between holding things in and letting them out, between restriction and release. 12x12cm & 12x20cm, lino print, 2025-2026 Price: 65€ individually, 110€ together.
THE SPACE BETWEEN / Diana Maria de la Encarnacion
“The Space Between” captures a quiet moment just before something changes. Everything is still calm, but there is already a sense that something is about to break loose. The artwork depicts a person staring off into space, maybe waiting, maybe unaware of what is about to come. 60 x 70 cm, acrylic & oil on canvas, 2026 Price: 1300 €
