Studio Space: Scope Steps Into the Process

There’s something powerful about turning the key to a space that wasn’t there before or rather, one that always should have been.

Since its founding in 2021, Scope has been a catalyst for concerts, exhibitions, events, open airs, showcases, EP releases, and other presentations of finished work.
But we’ve always dreamed of supporting our community’s incredible artists from the very beginning of their creative journeys—all the way through to live performances, promotion, events, distribution, and career-building support. Until now, most of that has been just out of reach due to financial constraints.

But this fall, that finally changes.

With the aquiring of our very own in-house studio, we can now support artists not just when the work is ready, but from the moment it begins. This new SCOPE studio is dedicated to music production, and it’s a long-awaited and crucial resource for our community. At its core, it’s more than just a room with gear—it’s a statement: Art deserves infrastructure.

A Brave Step

Yes, renting and maintaining this, or any standing infrastructure is a bold and financially demanding move. But we believe in building infrastructure for creativity, and we believe that when welcoming spaces exist, the people who need them will come, as they already have.
With the studio, we at Scope are shifting our focus from being just a community of producers to reaffirming our lasting commitment to artists and their needs. coming year will be marked with programs to increase our ability to support artists with spaces and tools.

The new studio is now available to Scope members, making professional-level music production accessible through a SCOPE membership fee and a nominal studio upkeep fee. It’s a space where anyone—regardless of background or formal training can learn, explore, and record.
Professional support is also available, from mixing and mastering to songwriting and creative sparring.

More Than a Room

Though the studio has been unofficially active for the past month, it’s now fully open and filling with sound, ideas, and collaboration. Built by Scope’s music department lead, Miska Kärävä, the space is already proving to be fertile ground for fresh creativity!

We’re also preparing for what’s next: song camps, workshops, and guest artist sessions designed to foster collaboration across genres, skill levels, and generations.

Bigger picture

On a larger scale, the past few years when we’ve mostly existed virtually have  honestly been hard. Without the safety of a metaphorical home or a place to gather its so easy to kind of forget what we are building and get sidetracked. Finally having a concrete space and walls around our community is deeply inspiring. It invites feelings of safety and gratitude, as our long-held dreams begin to become tangible reality.
In a way, we’ve finally decided to settle down: To make a home for our community. Scope finally has a place where many new processes can begin.

And that will change everything.
